ProtoADU is an adaptable building system response to today’s residential housing challenges. With housing shortages persisting throughout cities across the county, this model has been designed to be constructed affordably while meeting accessory dwelling unit codes of most jurisdictions.

Asked to design an adaptable, efficient housing typology, L,BA composed a system of structural walls and a series of roof forms that can be combined into a variety of configurations and spatial experiences. Every configuration includes a covered entry court with an optional sauna or storage room and a generous double height living space. These component configurations can adapt to a variety of sites, from urban infill conditions to rural landscapes.
