Since 1910, The Jennings Building has been a landmark on Main Street in Joseph, Oregon, evolving to serve the changing needs of rural Wallowa County. The Jennings is being transformed from a derelict apartment building into an outpost for artists and a beacon of considered design and gracious hospitality in the mountains of Northeast Oregon. Unable to renovate the building all at once, bespoke hotel rooms were designed one at a time, each by a different designer. Inspired by traditional woodworking methods and craft and by the existing building, the design for Room 5 includes all finishes, millwork, and furniture, all designed, fabricated, and installed by L,BA. Details of the existing building are transformed into complex and dynamic surfaces in both plaster and wood.
