A competition entry for the design of a musical conservatory and archives dedicated to the life and work of composer Arvo Pärt. Designed as a series of walled stone courts tempered by an undulating timber roof, the courtyard building provides dramatic spaces for music education, practice and presentation. These material and spatial elements are woven into the surrounding birch tree forest, a landscape of haunting and tenuous beauty.
